World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other upper reaches continued to receive snowfall during the last 24 hours in Kashmir valley, where weather woos will continue due to prediction of widespread rain and snow.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature remained several degrees below normal while the minimum temperature settled above normal in the valley.

A Met department spokesman told that widespread rain and snow would occur during the next 24 hours in Kashmir under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is currently active in the region. “Due to this WD, which originated in the Arabian Sea and entered the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, the night temperature would increase but the day will become colder,” he said. However, he said the weather will improve from Sunday.After witnessing above normal night temperature, people woke up to a chillySaturday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar, where people could be seenwearing warm cloths, including jackets and sweaters, to evade chillyconditions. “The night temperature on Friday in Srinagar settled at 3.9 degree,which is about 2 degree below normal,” he said.
